One of the blogs I follow is Amy Tenderich's patient/pundit blog, Diabetes Mine. I don't have diabetes (knock on wood) but I appreciate the perspective she give on the lives of my diabetic clients. Diabetes Mine is a veritable gold mine of resources, news, product reviews, and personal stories for people with diabetes.
Amy was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2003 and has since put her PR experience (previously in the tech industry) to good use, sorting through the hype and misinformation to give you the straight story on living with diabetes. I love how candid Amy is about travails with food and with carpal tunnel syndrome (did you know it's related to diabetes?). She writes about what diabetes patients really need, like doctors who do e-mail. And just about anyone, diabetic or not, will find inspiration in her post on advice and mantras. Amy's tone is always intelligent and friendly. I love how inclusive her brand of defiance is. Best of all, she writes with great warmth and humor.
Amy Tenderich also writes a column for DLive called Straight Up. She is the author of a book on diabetes, Know Your Numbers, Outlive Your Diabetes: 5 Essential Health Factors You Can Master to Enjoy a Long and Healthy Life.
