I mentioned the The Neuropathy Association a few weeks ago in my post on National Neuropathy Awareness Week. Thirty-one-year-old Alice Crisci officially launched her foundation, My Vision, just four weeks before undergoing her first surgery for breast cancer (a double mastectomy). My Vision will help women with breast cancer finance fertility preservation, allowing them the possibility of having children after their cancer treatments. The foundation also provides funding for photography sessions to preserve images of cancer patients' pre-surgery bodies, and is a general resource for the special needs of younger women with breast cancer. Crisci tells her own story of pre-surgery fertility preservation and launching My Vision in two Huffington Post featured blog essays.
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America provides advocacy, education, and research for patients with allergies and asthma through its national network of chapters and support groups. Founded in 1953, the non-profit is the oldest asthma and allergy patient group in the world. The AAFA's website is loaded with practical advice for dealing with allergies and asthma, including this spring allergy podcast.
